This was a perfect example of how a wedding in January can be beautiful.  The skies were gray, rain always looked like it was a few minutes away, but nothing could stop the day from being any brighter.  The venue was decorated beautifully and the weather co-operated perfectly to help create Leilani and Blake’s dream wedding day.

I had become good friends with Leilani and Blake prior to their big day, so it was wonderful to see them in this environment – surrounded by their friends and family, photos of them as children and in their early days as a couple, and little touches throughout the wedding and venue that highlighted their personality and character.  One of the moments that stayed with me and defines their relationship was when I went upstairs to get a quick shot of the bride a few minutes before she was due to walk down the aisle and she was calmly sitting in front of the mirror, silently praying.

I had known Morgan for years, so I was thrilled to be able to capture her wedding day – in fact, when she asked me about it I was living in England, and was planning to make a trip back over to the States just to shoot her wedding.  By the time her wedding date arrived I had moved back to America, so there wasn’t quite as much travel involved – but I would have happily taken the 8,000 mile round-trip to be there for Morgan and Mark’s big day.

So there are two things to know about this wedding.  One, Morgan pretty much designed everything in this wedding from start to finish, and did an absolutely amazing job – she is one of the most creative people I know.  Two, these two are just an awesome couple – they’re funny, smart, thoughtful, adventurous, and kind, and it was an honor to be able to capture their special day for them.
