I had known Leilani for a month or two when I shot her engagement session – I never know whether it’s easier for a subject when they know the photographer or not, but I know as the photographer it’s a little harder.  I’m not sure why, but that’s the way it is for me at least.

The day we shot was the first time I met Blake, and he was great to be around.  Once he got comfortable his sense of humor started shining through, and he kept his bride-to-be smiling the whole time.  It was an eventful shoot – we played chicken with a train and we had an old guy watch us while he held what looked like a shotgun – but we found a great cotton field and caught some beautiful light, so it was all worth it in the end.
